Our church is once again the host site for the Community Thanksgiving Meal. This event provides a free holiday meal to anyone who might otherwise go without. Recipients might not be able to afford special holiday foods or don’t have family with which to gather. We, and other community volunteers, prepare all the food, but meals are takeout only. Home delivery is also available for people with mobility issues.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Volunteer: We need volunteers on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 2:00 pm to help with preparations. Volunteers are also needed to assemble the meals, to assist people who arrive for their takeout meals, to deliver meals to homes and assisted living facilities, and to clean up afterwards. This work begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, Nov. 27. The delivery window closes at 1:00 pm, so you should be home in  the afternoon to enjoy your own Thanksgiving. If you want more details, contact Nicole Sukow at snb@solarus.net or 715-572-4629.

Make Cookies or Bars: We also need donations of cookies or bars. No nuts, please, and also, no pies, which crumble too easily in transport. You can bring your cookies and bars to the cafeteria on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Let Others Know: If you know of someone that could use a free Thanksgiving dinner, please tell them to plan ahead. Reservations are required. They must call 211 (the United Way help line) between Monday, Nov. 10 and Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. No calls will be taken on the weekend or in the evening.  †
